Ah, Misc the ultimate misc. utility has now reached it's second release.
For those of you who have been hiding under a rock in outer Siberia for the
last few years; Misc is a nifty utility that can complete two tasks, for
now. One of them is to keep notes, like a standard NoteIt utility, this is
what most of you will use it for. Here you can write down small pieces of
text, small notes, without firing up an editor for it.
The other use of Misc is to keep logs, it provides a simple way of
creating logs. Take a look at it. This is particularily useful for
developers, who want to keep a History file of a program.
But why on earth did we name it Misc, and what the h*ck is that bloody
rodent (or whatever it is for a creature) doing on all the icons? The name
Misc comes from two things; Firstly, The program does multiple (two)
things, and secondly, we have a bad imagination. And that stupid rodent...
It's not stupid, it's the result of a phonecall that was going on for too
long. We call him WinX (pronounced `wingks'), he has also got a friend
called WinY (pronounced `whiny'). WinY hasn't made it to the real world
yet, he's nothing but a name for the moment. The reason WinX is on all
icons is that we couldn't come up with a better icon for a program like
Misc. And we're trying to brainwash you!
Yes, having said that, here comes the critical point, Misc uses MUI!
(Yes! Louder! I wanna hear you scream!) So, some of you will like this and
some of you won't. This program was made for them of you who will. One
thing to the ones who don't like it: It won't stay in memory (like a
commodity or something), so you won't really suffer from it using MUI.
Another note for all you d*rks who think MUI-programs never free all memory
they are using, they DO! The library stays in memory, yes, but the memory
is freed if a program needs it. (And you can free it manually by typing
`Avail Flush' in a shell.) We can further mention that this program uses
the Textfield.gadget. That will hardly make anyone scream, but it's also
great, it provides great editing facilities from the bottom to the top.
